2005-06-06   Fuel & Energy Complex of Russia:
Right Hand Rule
Nowadays, the managerial and political carrier of the Head of RAO UES of Russia is jeopardized. The future congress of the SPS (Union of the Right Forces) must elect a new leader of the right movement. It is know, that there is a rather strong wing in SPS that proposes to Chubais, the head of the monopoly, to take a decision whether he is a “talented manager” or a public politician, then he should abandon RAO UES and start restoring SPS to life.

"UKOS’s case": not to be continued
Stormy and at the same time controversial reaction of the politicians towards the sentence for ex-owners of the oil-company UKOS immediately agitated Russia public. The finance minister Alexye Koudrin admitted that “Ukos’s case” badly affected the confidence to Russian economy and will take mush time to restore it. “That appeared to be and remained a serious lesson for everybody” – said the ministry.

2005-06-03   Russian Foreign Policy:
Color revolutions in the CIS
The majority of experts who analyze the reasons for these events note general poverty, acute social problems and corrupt regimes in these countries. Indeed, any mass movement or unrest develops against the backdrop of acute discontent of a considerable or larger part of the population with their situation and their belief that there will be no positive changes under the current regime. However, if these were decisive factors, Ukraine, which has the second or third best living standards in the CIS, would have been one of the last to have its "orange revolution." The revolutionary trailblazers would have been Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

May Fradkov go?
The government dismiss, the proximity of which is predicted by the recent wave of gossip, circulating in the government, might turn out a fact. Several sources of Gazeta do not exclude that Premier Mikhail Fradkov will announce his retirement the next week. Probably, it will look like the retirement at personal request. The reason – failing health. If the ouster takes place, the new chief of the Cabinet will have to tackle the task that Fradkov failed to manage – carry out the unpopular reforms. At that, in such a way that they would not impair the success of Putin’s successor on the election in 2008.

Fradkov might be forced to leave already this week
Probably the most popular interior themes today is the possible ouster of Cabinet Chief Mikhail Fradkov. Clearly, there is a minimum of the information, only versions and assumptions, but it only makes the ‘ouster’ a more popular topic and widens the list of the possible candidates for the post.

2005-05-26   Russian Foreign Policy:
USA accuse Zhirinovsky and Voloshin
Bad” prosecutor part is acted by the American Media, the senators and some political figures from presidential administration, like Condoliza Rice. And “good” part is played by the president himself. At first, Russia is blamed in whatever they like, afterwards, a “friend George” come to his “friend Volodya” and declares that it is no need to worry, everything will be OK

Sidelong glance
Nowadays we may speak of large-scale campaign against our country – at least, it’s a long time since there were so many negative publications. Again, there is creation of semi-wild, authoritarian, criminalized state with no rights and freedoms guarantees. It is already not far from classical bears in the streets.

The alliance of states to be created in order to oust Russia from the post -soviet area
This alliance actually exists. It is being formed and extended. The fact that the alliance exists between two leaders of the “revolutions” President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko and President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili is the most dangerous. It also comprises President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin who can not be called “a revolutionary”.

New Charges
The question of the imprisonment term for Khodorkovsky will be decided at the very last moment, there is none, so far, and I seriously doubt that the accusations that have already been set forth will not be enough to get him for a long or a very long time behind the bars. The new charges are related to the political aspect – how many years will they give to Khodorkovsky or will not give at all, however, there is also an economic aspect – the need to finish with Yukos, to ruin it and share its assets.

America Saves Khodorkovsky From Corruption
The reading of the verdict to Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Platon Lebedev and Andrei Krainov turned into the local emergency situation for Moscow. Today, on the second day of the verdict reading, the traffic along Kalanchevskaya street by the Meschansky Court House was limited again – trucks are not allowed to pass by and other cars have to be inspected. The Court House is cordoned off with metal detectors on the both sides of the street just several meters from the House. The sidewalks are also cordoned to prevent unsanctioned meetings. Yesterday, during a meeting 30 people were arrested, including one of the leaders of Yabloko party Sergei Mitrokhin. Today, he will appear before the court as well.
